Courtenay Collins Eckardt, a Juilliard trained actress and professional singer, expands her creative vision and artistic expression through Vintage Spirit Designs Jewelry Collection. With vintage and cultural jewelry as her inspiration, she uses preowned pieces as well as new materials to create her ideal designs. The goal of Vintage Spirit Designs is to weave joy and peace into each of her creations and pass this good karma onto the buyer.

Courtenay's mission:

Being one seemingly insignificant woman living in the suburbs of a big city, with the various beloved responsibilities of family and work, it is hardly possible to accomplish the superhuman feats that I have dreamt of accomplishing during my lifetime.

I cannot cure cancer. Dammit.  I cannot not do anything remarkable like organize world peace or stop warmongering among nations. This upsets me.  I won't have time - in this lifetime anyway- to address or FIX homelessness, addiction, prejudice, world hunger, or poverty - all issues that keep me awake at night after watching the nightly news and reading my ritual Sunday New York Times.

What I CAN do is make jewelry that means something to me and hopefully to my customers. My heart's mission is to send messages of love and hope and healing out to the world through this jewelry. Each piece is designed with a particular meditation in mind and that message is included with it's intended piece of jewelry.  You will find the messages in the jewelry descriptions on this website.

These messages hopefully speak to those who need them or know someone who needs them.

This is my small way of reacting to the insanity of what can seem like an unruly, chaotic, and cruel world.

My mission with Vintage Spirit Designs is to create joy, to spread peace and kindness, and to make people happy. Actually, that is the mission of my life. I am simply using the jewelry as an excuse to express it.

It's such a small thing, almost a nothing, but I feels it necessary to take this "small step for humankind." (every pun intended)

I hope you like these creations and I wish each of you peace and abundant joy...

"My love affair with vintage costume jewelry and accessories began when I was a little girl playing in my grandmother's jewelry box. It was our way of bonding as granddaughter and grandmother.

After my grandmother left this world, I wanted to wear her jewelry because it made me feel close to her.  The only problem was that my costume jewelry "inheritance" did not fit my body type or my clothing style, so I began renovating and remaking her jewelry.

After taking jewelry making classes and studying vintage jewelry extensively, I began selling my jewelry in home shows and arts festivals.

It is important for me to bring new life - new Spirit - to these vintage pieces of jewelry and handbags. I appreciate and learn from the high quality of workmanship and detail that vintage costume jewelry exudes.

It is my goal to update these older, pre-loved jewelry pieces while preserving the integrity and spirit of the original article. I love to clean, to re -think, and to re- new these items into pieces that are wearable and current and special.

Today, in addition to my website marketing, I sell my designs in certain juried Arts and Craft Festivals. This is because I have always loved a good craft festival and more importantly, I love meeting the people who buy my jewelry! "
